DR DRE DOES DR PEPPER
Dr Dre can’t be short of a few bob. He’s probably about as rich as Thailand. So why has he felt the need to appear in the latest Dr Pepper ad in the US? Gawd knows.
Whatever his reason, it’s pretty mad that one of America’s biggest pop brands is now being fronted by a guy whose old group NWA were formally asked by the FBI to stop recording, after tracks like Fuck Tha Police made everybody wig right out. They’ll have Marylin Manson winking his way through KFC ads next! Actually, no. No they won’t.
The one slightly exciting element of this supremely gay ad is the first airing of a track from Dre’s Detox, the loooooong-awaited follow-up to his classic 2001. It’s called Shit Popped Off, and you can (sorta) hear about ten seconds of it after Dre throws DJ Techno off the decks.
